High School and Community College Students

HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS - Each year the Hampton Roads Chapter offers scholarships to recognize outstanding graduating high school seniors for academic achievement and to provide financial assistance to seniors planning to pursue a baccalaureate degree with a major in a financial/resource management-related field (e.g., business administration, economics, public administration, accounting, finance).  The 2009-2010 school year scholarship packages have been mailed to all area high schools. In June of 2010, the Hampton Roads chapter will award three scholarships: $1,500 first place, $1,000 second place, and $500 third place.  The first place winner will then have the opportunity to compete in the ASMC National Scholarship program for one of several scholarships.   Interested high school seniors should contact their guidance counselor for additional information and scholarship application forms.   Applications must be postmarked no later than February 2, 2010 to be considered. Any questions, please contact Lorie Strachan, Scholarship Committee Chair, at (757) 788-3714.

COMMUNITY College - In a continuing effort to promote the financial management career field and to reinforce our commitment to the communities in which we serve, the Hampton Roads Chapter partners with Thomas Nelson Community College and Tidewater Community College each year to offer a $500 scholarship at each school.  Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in a two-year curriculum focused on a financial management field of study and transferable to a 4-year institution.  Interested students should contact the college's financial aid office for additional information. Any questions, please contact Lorie Strachan, Scholarship Committee Chair, at (757) 788-3714.
